The information we collect
Information you give us
Enquiry and quote forms
When you complete a form on our website, we collect the details you provide so we can respond to your enquiry.
Details we ask for
Required details
Your name, phone number, postcode, the service you are interested in and your confirmation that we may contact you. On our main enquiry form we also ask for your email address.
Optional details
Your email address (on shorter forms), property type, preferred contact method and any message you choose to include.
Phone calls, emails and surveys
If you call or email us, or we visit your property for a survey or installation, we keep a record of the information needed to provide a quote and carry out the work, such as your address, access arrangements and details of the system installed.
Information collected automatically
Technical and security data
Our web server records standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. We also use limited technical data, including a one-way encrypted (hashed) version of your IP address, to protect our forms from spam and abuse.
Our enquiry forms use Google reCAPTCHA to check that enquiries come from a person rather than an automated program. When you start using a form, reCAPTCHA collects information such as your IP address, browser details and how you interact with the page, and sends it to Google for analysis. Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
Advertising campaign information
If you reach our website from an online advert, the web address may contain campaign information (for example UTM parameters or a click identifier from Google, Microsoft or Meta). When you submit an enquiry from that page, or have accepted non-essential cookies, we record this information with your enquiry so we can understand which adverts are effective.
Cookies and similar technologies
We only use non-essential cookies, such as analytics and advertising cookies, with your consent. See our cookie policy for details.
Information about security systems we install
We do not routinely access recordings from the CCTV systems we install. If we need to view footage or system settings to configure, test or support your system, we will do so only for that purpose and with your agreement.
How we use your information
- To respond to your enquiry and provide quotes
- To arrange and carry out surveys, installations, servicing and support
- To send you a confirmation of your enquiry and related service messages
- To manage our business, including accounting and record keeping
- To keep our website secure and prevent spam and misuse
- To understand how our website and advertising perform (only with your consent where cookies are involved)
We do not sell your personal information, and we will not send you marketing emails unless you have specifically agreed to receive them.
Our lawful bases
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) we rely on the following lawful bases:
- Steps before entering a contract, and performing a contract: to provide quotes, surveys, installations and support you request.
- Legitimate interests: to respond to general enquiries, run and secure our website, prevent spam and keep business records. We balance these interests against your rights.
- Consent: for non-essential cookies, analytics and advertising measurement. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation: where we must keep records, for example for tax purposes.
Who we share your information with
We share personal information only where necessary, with:
- Service providers who help us run our business, such as website hosting, email and IT providers, acting on our instructions
- Google, which provides the reCAPTCHA spam protection on our enquiry forms
- Analytics and advertising providers (such as Google and Meta), only where you have consented to the relevant cookies
- Equipment manufacturers or monitoring providers, where needed to set up services you have chosen
- Professional advisers such as accountants and insurers
- Law enforcement or regulators, where we are legally required to do so
International transfers
Some of our service providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement.
How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it:
- Enquiries that do not lead to work: up to 12 months after our last contact
- Customer and installation records: up to 6 years after the end of our work, to meet legal and accounting requirements and support your system
- Website security logs: kept for a short period, normally no longer than 90 days
How we protect your information
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) on our website, restricted access to enquiry records and secure storage. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work hard to protect the information you share with us.
Your rights
Under data protection law you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Ask us to delete your information in certain circumstances
- Ask us to restrict how we use your information
- Object to our use of your information where we rely on legitimate interests
- Ask us to transfer your information to another organisation (data portability)
- Withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent
Making a request
To exercise any of your rights, contact us using the details above. You don’t usually need to pay a fee, and we will respond within one month.
Confirming your identity
We may need to ask for information to confirm your identity before responding, to make sure we only share personal information with the right person.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we use your information, please contact us first so we can try to put things right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Changes to this privacy policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
